Statement Caroline Peters
FrauenFilmTage (FFT): What precisely made you choose “female desire” as the theme for this year’s FrauenFilm-Tage?
Caroline Peters (CP): Female desire rarely ranks highly among the subjects explored in cinema or theatre produc-tions. If you want to identify with the hero, you usually have to identify with masculinity. Cin-ema has always been a school of life for me, but heroines were missing or marginalised – such as Linda Hamilton in the Terminator movie franchise for example.
Caroline Peters has been a highly successful actress in recent years at the Burgtheater in Vienna. Earlier on in her career she also appeared at many major theatres in the German-speaking countries, including the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Volksbühne Berlin, Schauspielhaus Zürich and Burgtheater Wien.
She is also well known for her role as detective superintendent Sophie Haas in the rural German crime series “Mord mit Aussicht”.
